Take beautiful images using your DSLR or mirrorless camera

(if you are wanting to learn phone photography and videography instead please visit this page)

Date: The last public workshop for 2026 has taken place, but I am offering one to one sessions, and if you have a small group who would like a workshop please contact me.

What to expect on a day with me

We’ll start with the fundamentals of taking creative control of your camera, covering:

  • Aperture, shutter speed, and ISO – understanding how these settings work together

  • Light and composition – how to work with light to create compelling images

From there, we’ll practice photographing both inside and outside, applying what we’ve learned to various setups

Practical Sessions

  • Practice how to set up the best photographic area in your workspace

  • Photograph subjects (both inside and outside) -experimenting with different backdrops, lighting conditions, and compositions

  • Use a selection of props to tell a visual story through your images

For those interested, we will also explore how to use:

  • Artificial light, diffusers, and reflectors to enhance your shots when needed

  • Editing software – a brief introduction to editing

What to Bring

The course is designed for cameras that allow aperture priority or manual mode, including DSLR, mirrorless, compact, or bridge cameras

  • Not sure if your camera is suitable? Email me the make and model!

  • If you have a tripod, bring it along (we’ll also have some available to borrow)

Extras
